As we start the new year, many of us look forward to what goals we’d like to achieve this year and what blessings we hope to manifest in 2023. For many, these goals and hopes usually revolve around health, love, happiness, peace, and prosperity. The last year has been especially tough on many of our bank accounts - inflation, am I right? So, I thought it would be fitting to start the year with some tips on manifesting prosperity. In this post, I want to focus on working with our crystal allies to manifest money and wealth.
Before we get started, I want to make a quick distinction between abundance magick and prosperity magick. This distinction often confused me when I started practicing because I thought abundance and prosperity were interchangeable, as many new witches do. But, really, it all relates to money, right? Well, not necessarily. I love how Christopher Penczak explains the difference between the two terms in his book The Witch’s Coin.
Energetically, abundance is very different from prosperity. Abundance simply means a lot of something. Spells, magick, and affirmations that ask for abundance, and don’t specify what kind, often get mixed results, because you simply get a lot of something. You can have an abundance of misfortune, of ill health, or of stress. Abundance doesn’t mean money…Abundant money doesn’t bring happiness, health, or a sense of purpose, though it makes some things easier. When you don’t have money, it’s easy to think it’s the solution to all your problems, but without a greater framework for its use, money can bring as many problems as it solves.
Prosperity is more than abundance, and less. Prosperity is different from money. To be prosperous means you are healthily growing. To prosper means you are thriving. You are flourishing. This means your entire life, not just your bank account. The image of prosperity we have as pagans goes back to the flourishing land, filled with green and gold grains, providing crops, feeding the herd and the people. Things are growing. The world is turning. (19-20)
So, when we do prosperity magick, we need to get clear about what the healthy, prosperous life we want really looks like. It doesn’t necessarily include tons of money being dumped into our bank account (though that would be nice). Instead, it means we want to flourish - to have enough money to thrive and grow in happiness, health, and a sense of purpose. So, we want to look for crystals for prosperity, not necessarily abundance.
One thing that has always overwhelmed me about magick is the sheer amount of information that’s out there about magickal correspondences. Though I’ve learned through practice and study how some of these correspondences work, I often wish I had some fantastic decoding system to figure out correspondences for myself. Many witches use their intuition for this, but it’s taken me a while to tap into that and learn to trust it. I needed a system…something quick to help me choose crystals and herbs to use in my magick without looking up correspondences in tons of books. So today, I want to give you a quick little primer on what to look for when choosing crystals to use in prosperity magick.
One way I’ve found that helps me remember the magickal correspondences of crystals is understanding the planets’ associations in astrology. These planets are classically known as the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Once I know the primary energy of each planet, the color associated with it, and the element and zodiac signs associated with it, I can often figure out what crystals would work best for that planet and its intentions. I think this is because I can visualize this information easily. So, keeping that in mind, here are three planets I associate with prosperity:
Jupiter is the BIG planet of EXPANSION, abundance, growth, and SUCCESS…all things we think of when we think of prosperity. Jupiter is also the planet of MATERIAL WEALTH, and its color is ROYAL BLUE. Jupiter, in classic terms, is the ruler of SAGITTARIUS and PISCES.
With this in mind, any stone that is royal blue in color or associated with Sagittarius or Pisces may help me expand and grow my success and prosperity.
The Sun is the BRIGHTLY SHINING planet that provides energy and shines a light on potential. We associate the color GOLD or YELLOW with the Sun, which also happens to be the color of a very precious metal and the color of fertile fields of grain. The Sun is associated with the element of FIRE and is the ruler of the fiery sign, LEO.
Keeping this in mind, I would assume that golden or yellow crystals would probably be associated with the Sun. But red, fiery crystals may also work. However, I feel that gold and yellow remind me of riches more than red, so I’d probably stick to golden or yellow stones. I’d also look for crystals that are associated with Leo.
Venus is not just the planet of love, but also ATTRACTION of all kinds…even money. The color GREEN is associated with Venus, which is fitting for money magick because we often associate money with green (at least here in America). Plus, green is the color of nature, which is where prosperity first originates.
In western astrology, Venus is associated with the element of water, which makes sense because water = emotions, and that includes love. However, Venus is associated with the element metal (or gold) in Chinese astrology. In Indian astrology, one thing Venus represents is wealth. In addition, Venus is the ruler of TAURUS and LIBRA.
So, I would choose green stones and crystals or stones connected to Venus, Taurus, or Libra to help me attract more money and prosperity into my life.
These are simply tools I use to try to understand the correspondences I come across so I can organize them in my mind (Virgo sun AND rising here…I LUV to organize). Of course, these examples don’t always work out. There are crystals with legendary or ancient correspondences that won’t fit this framework and that I’ll need to memorize. However, this system has helped me wrap my mind around which crystals I want to use in my prosperity magick.
So, now let’s get to the main attraction:
Green Aventurine has been associated with abundance, opportunities, prosperity, wealth, money, and success (among other things). This is a positive stone that helps us figure out what will really make us happy and attunes us to the frequency of luxury and wealth. It is also a stone of good luck and fortune. These correspondences, as well as its green color, make it a natural crystal for prosperity magick.
Chrysoprase is a green stone associated with the planet Venus and the signs Taurus and Libra, making it perfect for attracting wealth. It has been associated with abundance, courage, growth, happiness, healing, luck, money, and success (among other things). Chrysoprase promotes optimism and personal insight, which can help us foster a healthy money mindset, letting go of deep-rooted fears about prosperity. Plus, it helps us love ourselves and take better care of ourselves so we can be open to receiving all of the money and blessings the universe has to offer.
Citrine is a warm and fiery stone associated with the Sun; really, just looking at citrine fills me with sunshine and warmth. It has been associated with abundance, confidence, discipline, goals, luck, manifesting money, prosperity, success, and wealth. Often called the Lucky Merchant Stone, citrine is a stone of wealth and success that can help us take advantage of opportunities and attract financial business success. Citrine can also help us stay disciplined enough to reach our savings goals and prevent overspending.
Malachite is an earthy stone that is perfect for prosperity magick. Malachite has been associated with abundance, business, emotional empowerment, goals, hope, luck (especially with money), prosperity, self-work, success, transformation, and wealth (among other things). Sometimes called the Salesperson’s Stone, this beautiful green stone corresponds to Venus and is perfect for attracting wealth. Plus, it is great for attracting customers to businesses. Malachite can help us work on our relationship with money. This includes empowering us to transform our negative feelings about prosperity into a more positive, helpful mindset.
Iron Pyrite is a natural match for prosperity magick because it is often mistaken for gold. Fiery Iron Pyrite is a highly energetic and positive stone associated with confidence, focus, luck, money, prosperity, skills, strength, success, wealth, and willpower (among other things). Pyrite can help us overcome self-doubt and other obstacles blocking us from manifesting prosperity. It can also help us find the strength and willpower to follow through with our financial goals to attract abundance and wealth. Plus, it’s shiny and sparkly - what could be better for money magick?

Just think of all the green and gold crystals out there, for example. There are also royal blue crystals like Lapis Lazuli that can help bring the expansive energies of Jupiter to your magick. Hopefully, the little system I’ve worked out to help me choose crystals to use in my practice will also help you keep some of your correspondences straight in your mind.
Remember that choosing tools and ingredients for your magick will eventually become a personal process. You’ll find that the more you practice magick, the easier it will be for you to understand what crystals are meaningful to you for prosperity and other intentions.
